Themajor US equity indices closed lower Friday with the uncertainty about the debt limit resolution weighing heavy on the market. The Commerce Department reported that gross domestic product great at an annual rate of 1.3 percent in the second quarter. Analysts were predicting a growth rate of 1.8 percent.
